A Little Bit About Me...

My photo
I have many hats that I wear. I am a husband and father. I am pastor/teacher at my church. I am part of a team working on a large project at work. I am a friend. I am a budding visionary. I am a writer, an actor, and a director. I am an artist. I am a student of the Bible. I have a brain that comes up with some pretty crazy and interesting ideas, and I have a personality to match. I try to treat all people how I would like to be treated. I strive to be steadfast, immovable in my faith. I seek after the TRUTH, and I believe that it can be found, not just 'from my perspective', but for all people.

The Experiment...

I have a theory… God’s Word changes people. In my mind it is not really just a theory, but to many people, the Bible, as a book is just a collection of fairy tales. I don’t agree. You’d have to ignore a LOT of archeological evidence to come to that conclusion. But just for the sake of argument, let’s ask the question: Does God’s Word change people? When I say “God’s Word” I mean the Bible.
So let’s set up the conditions of the test:
  • For a period of one week, let’s set aside about half an hour a day where you can spend some time with God.
  • Find a quiet place.
  • Bring your Bible, some paper, and a pen.
  • Be alone.
  • Start out with prayer… Ask God to forgive you for any sin that is on your conscience.
  • If you need to make some things right with someone, go do it.
  • Thank God for all the needs in your life that he has provided for.
  • Ask his Holy Spirit to come and teach you and bring out the truth of God’s Word.
  • Read a chapter of the Bible (preferably something in the New Testament).
  • Spend some time reflecting on what it says, and make some notes.
  • Write down some ways that you can apply what you have learned.
After a week, let’s hear your results!
